Family Farm seeking an enthusiastic, reliable and self motivated individual to assist with all aspects of our blueberry, raspberry, apple and elderberry farm near Woodstock Ontario.
4 Month Duration from May 1st to Labour Day (Flexible)
35 hours/week May/June
40 hours/week (minimum) July/August
Possible fall hours extension
Position Description:
- Assist with general field work across blueberry, raspberry, apple, and elderberry crops, including planting, cultivating, weeding, spraying, fertilizing, and grass cutting. .
- Support the operation and upkeep of irrigation systems, including switching zones, monitoring performance, and identifying or addressing any issues to ensure consistent watering
- Help monitor crop health and growing conditions, reporting concerns and assisting with tasks that promote strong, productive plants .
- Perform basic equipment maintenance such as oil changes, routine servicing, and minor repairs .
- Assist with general farm improvement and construction projects throughout the season, including repairs, building tasks, and other hands-on projects as needed
- Provide occasional fruit deliveries to customers or local markets during the summer months using farm vehicles.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Valid G license required.
- Strong work ethic with a motivated, self-starting attitude and willingness to take initiative.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
- Comfortable working outdoors in a physically active, hands-on environment.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and repairs.
- Experience operating tractors or farm/heavy equipment is an asset, but not required. .
- Agricultural or horticultural experience is an asset, but not required.
- Pesticide applicator’s licence is an asset, but not required.
- Clear communication skills and a positive, respectful approach to working with coworkers and customers.
Compensation
Hourly. Wage depends on experience.
